"vote" for new city council member by Jan. 18th!
Hi, if you haven't heard, one of the city council members resigned in order to serve a mission.
There is 1 year left in their 4 year term and the remaining 6 members of the city council have to appoint a replacement by Jan. 20th!
There are 17 candidates!
Check out video of the 3 minute presentations that each of them gave before the council on Thursday:

Email or call them too to find more info about each or any of them.
Then email the council at council1@provo.utah.gov to let them know who they should vote for.
This definitely matters because the city council members control things like parking, booting/towing, and zoning which affects how many people can live in homes. Don't get me started about zoning!
Anyway, will you please cast your "vote" by emailing them your pick?!
P.S. one of the candidates is a student who helped organize protests against the Joaquin parking permit plans.

P.P.S. I say "vote" by Jan. 18th because usually city council members seem to make up their minds a day or two before they have to vote on something.

I know that a lot of
I know that a lot of students feel like they need more representation in the city government that seems to shunt them at every opportunity while allowing their city to thrive off of them.
If you feel that way, check out the video of Nicolaas Leydsman. He will represent student interests but is very diplomatic and won't cause a stir or damage the council's view of the students. If you like his video, drop the council a note and let them know you like him!
