Great Poll

Thanks for the idea of a poll Brent.

I am interested to see what everyone thinks. As for the website I have done some big changes today. I fixed the problem so now everyone can submit articles and post polls. Also I added a new Spam filter and removed all the spam on the site. Things should be getting better.

isnt this one of the default

isnt this one of the default drupal themes? i'm no css master, but i am sure just a few minor adjustments to the code could spruce it up.

Layout changes

Yeah, that is not a bad idea. I have been trying to pick away at small things. I made the search into google search which is more comprehensive. I've move around the columns. I might try a new layout in the future. A good idea though.

I don't like the "Recent

I don't like the "Recent Comments" being so far down on the left. I liked it a lot better when I could see the page and know right away whether or not there were new comments.

I'm too lazy to see up a feed.

Just moved it

Yeah, I think you are right. I just moved the recent comments up to the top. That way they are more noticeable.

Thanks for bringing that up.

Wow, that's responsive.

Wow, that's responsive. Thanks!

Toning down the filter

Hey Everyone,

I noticed that the spam filter on the website was marking lots of good comments as spam so I toned it down. Hopefully we wont see any increase in spam but please let me know if you encounter any problems. Its a new filter so I am still working the bugs out.

One of the best things Mason

One of the best things Mason did was to disable anonymous comments. Why the change?

Anonymous comments

Hey Farker,

Here is my logic for allowing anonymous comments, and I am open to feedback from everyone. This website gets lots of search engine traffic from people who just like reading. It's a smaller percentage that make accounts and join up. My thinking is that if people can get partially involved, as anonymous users, they might decided to stick around and join later.

However, unlike a normal user, anonymous posters can't submit articles. I also set it up so that all anonymous posts are reviewed by a moderator before they actually appear on the website. This keeps out the trash, but allows some interesting posts to make it through. Feedback anyone?

My gut feeling is that most

My gut feeling is that most anonymous comments are from regular users who would rather not put their opinions/credibility on the line so they choose to post while logged out.

So a clear trade-off with generating traffic, which I understand, but I don't think I'll bother responding to anonymous users anymore.

i haven't ever used drupal

i haven't ever used drupal before, but is there some way to update/change the commenting system to give us a way to rate comments (see digg, slashdot, engadget, etc). that might alleviate some of the annoyances of anonymous cowards unless they actually say something worthwhile.

Not sure

I'm not sure if there is any type of comment rating system but I'll look around and see what I can find. There are some cool modules. For now, you could always make a bad comment as spam... lol.
